This Privacy Policy describes how Friending Inc. (“Friending”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) handles information when you use the Friending QR Message Scanner mobile application (the “App”).
The App is a simple QR code scanner designed specifically for Friending Coffee products. When you scan a unique QR code printed on a Friending gift, the App retrieves and displays the personal message associated with that QR code.
Important: The App does not include payments, checkout, order processing, or any payment gateway functionality.

2. WHAT INFORMATION THE APP COLLECTS
The App is built to be privacy-first. We do not require account registration and we do not ask for personal details such as your name, email address, phone number, shipping address, or payment information.
A. QR Scan Content
When you scan a Friending QR code, the App sends the QR identifier to our server in order to retrieve the associated message and display it to you.
- What we process: the QR code identifier (a unique code printed on the product).
- What we display: the message written by the purchaser at the time of gifting.
- What we do NOT collect from you: your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, or location.
B. Device & Diagnostic Information (Limited)
Like most mobile applications, we may receive limited technical data necessary to operate and secure the service, such as:
- basic server logs (e.g., IP address, request timestamps)
- app version and device type (for compatibility and troubleshooting)
- error/crash diagnostics (only if provided by your device/OS)
We use this information strictly for security, abuse prevention, and service reliability. We do not use it to identify you personally.
3. CAMERA PERMISSION
The App requests access to your device camera only to scan QR codes.
- The App does not record video.
- The App does not take or store photos.
- Camera access is used solely for real-time QR scanning.
4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use limited information to:
- scan and decode QR codes
- retrieve and display the associated message
- protect the App and servers against fraud, abuse, and misuse
- maintain performance, stability, and service availability
5. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information. We only share limited data when necessary to operate the App, including:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP): hosting for servers and databases
- Legal compliance: if required by law or to protect our rights and users
We do not share App data with advertising networks and do not use the App for behavioral advertising.
6. DATA RETENTION
The App itself does not store personal user profiles or accounts. QR messages are stored on secure servers so the recipient can view them when scanned. Technical logs (if any) are retained only as long as necessary for security and reliability.
7. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact legal@friending.com.
8. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS (GDPR / EEA + CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights such as access, correction, deletion, or restriction. Because the App does not collect user accounts or identifiable personal profiles, requests are typically limited in scope.

9. SECURITY
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information processed by the App. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect the App and related systems.
10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, technical, or legal changes. Updates will be posted on this page and are effective once published.
